A Primary Parade

Our ward had a Primary Parade around the neighborhood to celebrate the 4th of July and Pioneer day. Trey and Kindra were very excited about dressing up and decorating their bikes plus being in their own little parade! It was sunny and fun for everyone!Kindra got all decorated up in Red, White and Blue. Trey wanted to dress as a pioneer/cowboy. He looked hot.... no really hot! He had on 2 shirts and a wool vest! 89 degrees outside! Can you say heat stroke!?
They had a little program before the parade and then everyone was off to ride. They had the sheriff lead the group and the bishop brought his horse to take kids for rides on. Luckily our block isn't too big. The kids were excited to get icecream after their ride!

She did it!

Yeah Kindra! She has learned to ride a bike! She was very determined and when the weather finally turned nice after a month of rain...she got out there and DID IT! It has been a struggle for my kids to ride bikes at an early age. (except for Mitch, he taught himself at the age of 4...) The primary is having a little parade around the neighborhood tomorrow to celebrate the 4th of July and the 24th of July. The kids get to decorate their bikes so the presure was on. Way to go Kin! Ok so Mitch always seems to figure out creative ways to get around, or get attention. (middle child thing?) Poor Trey he is the one stuck pulling him...(youngest child thing) :) Good thing we live in a flat neighborhood.
Mitch went on a 3 day campout and hike last weekend. He ran out of the house before I could get a picture so I had to catch him at the neighbors house. He survived the wilderness cooking his own food! After coming home tired, hungry and dirty he has a new love for mom's cooking, his bed and showers!

DAM MARATHON!

It was an amazing feeling to run in a race....The DAM MARATHON... See the whole story below. Mitch and Kindra were excited the Rock Wall was set up at the park to climb after the race.
Trey thought the idea of the rock wall looked fun. He didn't get too far off the ground though, a little of Grandpa Skinner when it comes to heights. He said his stomach felt kinda funny.

When we first visited Rexburg last year we saw a big sign that said, "Dam Marathon". We laughed and joked that Rexburg could actually post such a sign. I thought it would be a mile stone for our year here in Rexburg so I decide to enter. The Teton Dam Marathon is in memory of the Teton Dam that broke and flooded the town some 30+ years ago. It was good for me to workout and work twords something....I could not find anyone to do it with me so I ran it alone. (I think I may have Marc talked into doing it with me next year and maybe Mitch.) It was great fun. Oh, and let me clarrify for all of you that just passed out reading that I actually entered a Marathon! I actually ran the 5K, which is a little over 3 miles....not quite the heart stopper. It was great to cross the finish line, they announced everyones name as they crossed and gave you a medal. My family was there cheering me on. (There is a gospel lesson or talk in here somewhere.) It was a real sence of accomplishment and I think it may have become a tradtion for me and whoever I can drag into doing it with me:) Oh, and I celebrated by eating 2 deep fried cherros!

Happiness is....

There are lots of things that make us happy. Here are just a few recent things.......
*Taking a nap on the top bunk of a new bunkbed with your brother!
*Entering a twinkie eating contest with a friend and laughing so hard after the second twinkie, they couldn't eat anymore. (sorry mom was laughing so hard too and didn't get a picture of it!)
* Going to EFY with one of your best friends you don't see much! What a special week they have ahead!

* Taking your daughter to BYU-Provo where you went to school and pointing out all the places and things you did when you were there...."This is where I went to movies, had dances, ate lunch,..." which was happy for me, but not so happy for the ones listening to it all. Katelyn said she felt like she was on a field trip!

Being with my honey/best friend celebrating our 19th Anniversary, eating at P.F. Changs and then shopping!!! :)

The Gift

It has been a sad week as 4 people we have known have passed on. Two friends and Two parents of friends....It makes me realize how precious the gift of life is. As soon as I heard about our friend Josh this morning my mind went to the simple words of a primary song....

"My life is a gift, my life has a plan. My life has a purpose; in heav'n it began. My choice was to come to this lovely home on earth and seek for God's light to direct me from birth."

I am so grateful for the gospel and the plan that our Heavenly Father has that we can be with our families forever, and I am sure we will see our friends again too! Their memories and examples of kindness and courage live on....
